Are we so insignificant??

This is the third time I'm writing this damn thing. The first time I hit some magical key combo and ended up going to the previous page, and the second time my PC overheated as it unexplainably does sometimes. Anyway, I went to school today. It was a nice change of pace to hang around doing nothing at school from doing nothing at home. At least I got to meet my friends...

Now for the petty philosophy. A question that I busy myself with when missing a certain someone becomes a crushing pain, is 'What's the point?' Last time I wrote about how Earth is but a tiny speck in the universe, right? So if we're all so insignificant, why do we bother getting educated, getting jobs, and fitting in to this social sphere? Is it just going with the norm? Is it for ourselves, or for someone else? Why are the celestially insignificant things we do, the most important things to us? But is this all even relevant? We do all this to live, and that's our prime purpose. We have built our lives around social mores that are accepted and important to us. What's so wrong about that? We may be microbes in the universe, but even microbes can make a difference When they are segregated in immensely large numbers, as we have done on Earth. But why do we even want to make a difference?
